SILVIA GRIMALDI - ONE EDGE On edge Lamp is part of a speculative project exploring possibilities of using surprise as a key element of design. Borrowing the archetype of the table lamp, on-edge plays with the fear of seeing an object that is about to fall and break to connect with the user’s gut reactions and create an emotional bond with the object. The lamp turns on when placed on the edge and though the user knows it made of rubber, it will still contradict their cultural expectations creating a memorable interaction DESIGNER: Silvia Grimaldi Email; silvia@nimblecritters.co.uk web: www.nimblecritters.co.uk |

JESUS FELIPE - ET TREE The lamp comes from a research on how increment and use tactile interaction with everyday objects to reinforce the bonds between user and object. Light is something that has always escaped tactility but the use and application of new technologies we can explore it, interact with it and touch it. The lamp consists of a series of malleable wires containing EL technology. This gives the user the possibility of modifying the shape of the lamps and changing it’s configuration for different environments or situations. The groups of bables can be separated or put together, they can imitate a tree branch or they can be arranged in figurative ways. CHRISTIAN LOOSER - AMBIENT LIGHT The idea was to create an ambient light which doesn’t blend at all and allows you to look on it at different levels, you’re protected, from blending effects as the FL tube can not be seen from outside. In the same time this lamp construction, has the benefit to spread out the light between the plastic plates . the light is coming out by reflection between the plates and brighten them The ambient light is standing on a brushed chrome tube in which the dimming EVG and the on/off button of the lamp is integrated. On the upper part there are 50 plates of white plastic fitted at a tube of Plexiglas. The space between each plate measures 30mm. Inside the Plexiglas there is a 16 mm thick and a 1500mm long FL tube of 35 watts. The heat of the FL light can escape through the upper end of the Plexiglas tube. On the same time cold air is coming from the opposite side at the end of the 15 mm chrome tube by the floor. DESIGNER : Christian Looser Email: Christian.looser@hgkz.net |
